Marketing For Photographers Without A Budget
In the previous segment about Marketing Without A Budget, I shared why markteting is important. I also shared how to get started with your own marketing plan.
Today we will go into a few things you can do as a professional photographer to grow your business.
USE YOUR EXPERTISE
Youʼre an expert in your industry – use that knowledge and expertise to your advantage. You are the expert food photographer. You are the expert sports photographer. You are the expert portrait photographer. Maybe youʼre the expert engagement and wedding photographer.
You started your photography business because you know a lot about it and have a passion for it. You especially know about your area of expertise in photography. The most important thing to your customers is finding someone to help them out.
Your customer needs images.
Thatʼs where you come in. Share your knowledge and expertise to customers and potential customers by providing valuable information. Share the benefits of your service and working with you.
CREATE ENGAGING CONTENT WITH -
- Useful information that is relevant to your business
- Helpful or interesting insider knowledge
- Videos, blogs, email, and social media
- Repurposed content
SHARE KNOWLEDGE
When you write a blog post, it should contain relevant information customers want to read. Each piece of your content becomes part of your knowledge base - what your customers can trust.
Give customers tips in an ordered list, fun facts, or ideas on how to prepare for an upcoming photo shoot. The more helpful you are, the more likely a potential customer will be to refer to your business again. Whatʼs more is your customers will refer you to their friends, colleagues or family.
Ask yourself - what do your potential clients need or want to learn? Think about your own photography business then tailor your content to your clientʼs needs.
REUSE CONTENT
One way to use your knowledge is by taking the knowledge and existing content that you already have and presenting it in different ways. In other words, take one piece of content that youʼve created then make three or four new pieces of content from that.
This saves you time and effort in marketing. The more relevant content you have in different forms, the more people you can reach. More importantly, the more relevent content you have in different forms, the more your clients and potential clients will be interested in you and your service.
How do you present your content in different forms?
- Turn a list-filled blog post into a fun video
- Break a video down into a written blog post
- Turn similar blog posts into an eBook
- Make a case study out of customer testimonials
- Separate a long post into shorter feature posts
