Portfolio Review

Photography, like other art forms, is subjective in nature.  As photographers we view the world solely through our own eyes.  We rarely have the opportunity to have outsiders, let alone a professional, view our work.  Typically, it's friends and family who give us feedback.  The problem with Mom, Dad, Grandma or Best Friend offering an evaluation of our work is : they love everything we do.  It's true, and this doesn't really help even though the praise feels good.  The ol' "How Beautiful! We Should Frame This!" doesn't help you become a better photographer.

Showing your images to another photographer or people who understand photography can be a wee bit unnerving.  What if they don't like your photos?  But, what if they do?  Being afraid to show your photography to professionals is something that every photographer goes through.  I promise.  I was the same way, and just so you know, my photography mentor was fierce!  I survived and became a better photographer for it.  And, I'm thankful.  Getting over the fear and apprehension is important to the development of your work.  Besides, I'm a nice guy and I will offer constructive feedback that will help you become a better photographer.

Knowing where you are as a photographer is absolutely essential if - IF - you really want to be a better photographer with a strong photographic style.  Knowing your strengths and weaknesses as a photographer also helps if you want to work at the pro level.

Before we begin the portfolio review process you will need to share with me:

1-  What you most enjoy photographing? What do you love?  Where is your passion?

2-  What do you want to get from your photography?  What are your goals?  Income. Yes, I know.  What else?

3-  How would you describe your photographic style?

4-  Who are your dream clients?  Who do you want to sell to?

Email this information to me after you sign up.

Choose up to 150 photos (your photos) and send to me using a free service such as WeTransfer.  If you prefer a different service, this is perfectly fine.  Be sure to send small file sizes, or you'll be waiting days for your photographs to transfer.  By the way, 150 is the maximum number; you can send fewer if you prefer.

The criteria for the images you send: include only images you would want to show your potential clients.  Be prepared to tell me why you chose the images you submitted.  I need to fully understand what you're aiming for with your photographs.  I will review your submitted images and choose the best of your best marketable images.  These images will be the one's that will "WOW" your potential clients.  I will offer constructive feedback and tell you why I chose particular images over others.  We will discuss everything during a live video session.

During the live video session we will discuss your photographic style, your goals as a photographer, your potential dream clients (and how to find them) and the best possible way(s) to present your portfolio.  We will also talk about the story you want to tell with your photos. This is a bit more than a simple portfolio review. You will benefit as you'll be put on the right path to promote your photography in the best possible light.  Bring your questions and be prepared to answer mine.

Benefits Of A Photography Portfolio Review

-  You will know your strengths and weaknesses.  Do you need to improve?  If so, how?

-  You will receive constructive feedback from a professional photographer.

-  You'll understand the difference between your favorite photographs and images that are marketable.

-  You will have a set of marketable images (one's that will sell).

-  You will know why your photographic style is important and how to develop one if you haven't already.

-  We'll chat about your goals.  Saying them out loud makes goals real and I love to think big so don't be shy.

-  Your Dream Clients will be ready for you and you'll know how to contact them.

-  You will have a cohesive and strong photography portfolio to show clients.

When you commit to a portfolio review, you will be taken to a screen where you will schedule a day and time.  Please note: one hour of the session includes me viewing your photographs and choosing the best of your best.  I will also be reviewing the information I have asked you to share with me.  The live video session is one hour.  This is two hours total.  Also note: I don't work with a timer during the live video session.  Should our time go over one hour during the session, so be it.  My goal is for you to get the most benefit from the service.

The Cost of The Portfolio Review is $ 85

If you have any questions whatsoever, please email me.  I'll be happy to answer.
